Create Content For Your Web Page

Search engine bots will read or crawl your website to see what your business does. It then chops up your webpage’s content. It groups words to connect your page with users’ searches.

In this way, it creates an index, a sort of database, of who your business is.

After indexing, search engines will eventually list your webpage in keyword searches. When you appear in the results, whether on page 1 or 15, we call that an “impression”. This means that the search engine connected your web page with some keywords that were searched.

Depending on a lot of factors, including people clicking on your web page, your web page will get a ranking. This rank should increase over time—time being months—unless you have a website with very high authority. But given the fact that you are considering employing an SEO Sergeant, we can assume that this is not the case.

The higher your webpage ranks, the higher up it will be in search results. To rank high, your web page must have good content. It’s the individual top factor for ranking. (We use “individual” on purpose.)

High-quality content is vital for any webpage. It engages visitors, builds trust, and helps your site rank in search results. Tools like SEMRUSH can help in researching keywords. They can find the phrases people are searching for. Using these keywords in your content helps search engines. It improves your web page’s visibility in search results.

SEO Sergeant strives to create content that is

Website Audit

In the Website SEO Support, SEO Sergeant makes use of a website crawler called Screaming Frog. It is website auditing software.

Screaming Frog is free up to a point. The unpaid version has crawl limits. This is ideal for the SEO Sergeant and you as the SEO Prospect to audit your website together.

It gives an overview of key on-page elements and site structure. It ensures your site meets SEO best practices. It is good for a bird’s-eye view of your website.

Screaming Frog crawls each URL. It checks permalinks or slugs to confirm they exist. It also reports important metadata, like page titles and meta descriptions. It identifies potential problems.

The tool also checks header structures (H1, H2, etc.) for a logical hierarchy. It finds thin or duplicate content. This helps you keep high-quality pages.

Screaming Frog also shines a light on your linking strategies. It checks both your internal and external links. You can find broken links and orphaned pages with little effort. You can confirm that your links help visitors and search engines navigate.

Screaming Frog’s audit lets SEO Sergeants check past SEO work. This website audit is free when one books an SEO Prospect Consultation.

Permalink Structure

Permalink structure is a cornerstone of a well-optimized WordPress SEO website. Permalinks, or permanent URLs (slugs), are unique web addresses. A human assigns them to each page or post. You want your desired keywords to be present in the permalink for optimal ranking.

Permalinks should be easy to read. Use “-” to separate words. This helps users and search engines understand the web page’s content. A good permalink structure boosts usability and readability. It creates clear, logical URLs that improve navigation. Search engines prefer structured, meaningful URLs. They provide clear cues about the page’s content. The SEO Sergeant knows this. He will try a short permalink that includes your keyword, if possible.

If the URL changes, it’s vital that the SEO Sergeant

1. properly set all 301 redirects

2. ensure all internal links on the entire website still works

One must plan a website’s structure. It should have a clear hierarchy and a logical content organization. Once the framework is in place, the permalink structure must align with this plan. It could be necessary for the SEO Sergeant to change this plan. Making a mistake here could have a detrimental effect on your rankings.

URLs must mirror the intended navigation path. This consistency helps users and search engines navigate your site. It improves engagement and crawl efficiency.

301 Redirects

The SEO Sergeant has the important responsibility of ensuring that 301 redirects are set up correctly. This can be done via cPanel, or, SEOPress. It can be tested with Screaming Frog, and, if there is a problem, the Google Search Console will pick it up too.
