There are many “experts” in search engine optimization (SEO) industry. They claim to know a lot about SEO… but… Do they?
One of those experts is a man called David Quiad.
David Quiad is a published SEO specialist from New York who has won several awards for his work. He is a leader on the topic, and very few people can outrank him on Google or in the knowledge of ranking on Google.
One of his claims is that content does not rank on Google and that one can rank without content. This is a bold claim.
We dedicate this page to him and that test. The content on this page was created by Christiaan Gouws, and was ran through Grammarly, SEMRUSH SEO Writing Assistant and Hemmingway Editor. Curiously enough, SEMRUSH started the content score at 7.2 out of 10, and after being ran through Hemmingway Editor, ended at 6.6.
Due to a challenge of ideas on a reddit, as of 19/01/2025, David went so far as to delete the YouTube video from his page. So he now only has a 1 liner page, and the keyword in the title.
David Quaid has a website that has a very high authority on the topic of SEO and websites. That website is live, and ranking number 1 as we speak, on this date, 31/12/2024.
Without trying to give him more authority (not that Website Squadron has any to give), we will not link to that web page. But should you be interested, you could just Google the search term “Is David Quaid Correct?”, and you will be able to see the page.
The only way to test David Quaid’s claim, in other words, to test if David Quaid is correct, we need to produce content that follows some basic principles, which he did not follow on his page.
We will do the following
Following these key principles that one can learn from other so called SEO “experts” on the web, we should be able to see if Davind Quaid is correct when he makes this claim.
And lets make it crystal clear, that on reddit, he makes a lot of claims. I mean, we are new to reddit, and nobody is more active on reddit than David Quaide, in the r/SEO subreddit. And by no means is that an insult to the man, on the contrary, a lot can be learnt from a professional in the field of search engine optimization that has around 20 years experience.
But even with these veterans, we have to stop every once in a while, to check their correctness, just to ensure that we are not deceived.
A good way to test domain authority, is to make use of a tool like ahrefs, the have a free tool called the website authority checker.

From these images it is clear that the Primary Position website far out preforms Website Squadron’s website.
The Website Squadron website is only 3 months old.
As of 5 January 2024, he was still outranking us. In order to change that, we will incorporate the following:

The same video he has on his web page, a video on his channel, embedded. So this can be counting towards him… who knows…
As of 24/01/2025, 3 weeks after this page was created, Primary Position SEO’s page still ranks number 1.
That was after he deleted the YouTube video from his page.
He only has a slug, title, and H1 with the keyword in, zero content, and yet… out ranks this page.

Only time will tell. At Website Squadron, we claim that he could be correct. If you ask him, he is always correct.
Should you see this page outrank his in time, this should mean that content trumps authority.
Should his web page continue to outrank our web page, it is clear that authority outperforms content, no matter what one does on content.
Either way, this little web page dedicated to his statement, will answer the question of whether or not David Quaid is correct, always.
