Let’s clear up a common point of confusion: a template kit is not a theme.
A theme controls the entire structure and functionality of your site. A template kit is a collection of pre-designed page templates, headers, footers, and styling that works within Elementor. You’ll still need a lightweight theme (we’ll use Hello Elementor), but the template kit handles the visual design.
When browsing Envato Market, make sure you’re looking at template kits, not themes.
Before purchasing, thoroughly preview the kit. Check these key pages: homepage options (most kits include multiple homepage designs), blog archive (how your blog listing page will look), single post template (the layout for individual blog posts), author archive (if you have multiple contributors), header and footer (these apply site-wide), and about page along with other static pages.
Make sure the kit fits your content needs. A blog-heavy site needs strong archive and single post templates. An agency site might prioritize portfolio layouts.
Log in to your Envato Market account and navigate to the WordPress template kits section. Find and purchase your chosen template kit, then download it to your computer. It will be a .zip file. Keep this file handy, you’ll upload it to WordPress shortly.
If you haven’t already, you’ll need a domain name pointing to your hosting and a fresh WordPress installation.
Most hosting providers, such as Scala or NetNerds, offer one-click WordPress installs. After setting up WordPress, give your DNS records time to propagate. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. You can check the propagation status at DNS checker sites.
Once you have access to your WordPress dashboard, you’re ready to proceed.
This free plugin is essential for importing your template kit.
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New. Search for “Envato Template Kit” and look for the plugin called Template Kit – Import. Click Install, then Activate.
Once activated, you’ll find a new option under Tools → Template Kit.
Most premium template kits require Elementor Pro. If you haven’t already, purchase Elementor Pro from elementor.com and download the plugin .zip file from your Elementor account.
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Choose your Elementor Pro .zip file and click Install Now. Activate the plugin and connect it to your Elementor account.
Go to Tools → Template Kit and click Upload Template Kit. Select your downloaded .zip file.
The plugin will scan the kit and check for any missing requirements. If it lists missing plugins (like “Elements Kit Light” or similar), click to install them. The plugin handles most dependencies automatically.
With the kit uploaded, you’ll see all available templates. Import the ones you need.
Essential templates to import include your chosen homepage design, blog archive (for your blog listing page), single post template, header, footer, and global style kit (this sets fonts, colors, and spacing).
To import each template, simply click the Import button next to it.

Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New and search for “Hello Elementor“. Install and activate it, then delete any unused themes to keep things tidy.
Now let’s set up your actual pages.
Go to Pages → Add New and name it (e.g., “Home” or your site name). Publish the page, then click Edit with Elementor. In Elementor, click the folder icon, go to My Templates or look for your imported kit, and insert your homepage template. Publish when done.
Create a new page called “Blog” and edit it with Elementor. Insert your blog archive template and publish.
Go to Settings → Reading and select “A static page“. Set your homepage to the page you just created and set your posts page to “Blog”. Save changes.
Your imported header and footer need to be told where to display.
Go to Elementor → Theme Builder and find your imported header. Click Edit Conditions and set it to display on Entire Site. Save and close, then repeat for your footer.
This ensures your header and footer appear on every page.
If you see duplicate headers, page titles, or other unwanted elements, adjust the theme settings.
Go to Hello → Settings and disable these options: Disable theme header and footer (prevents conflicts with your Elementor header/footer), Hide page title (removes redundant page titles), and Disable skip links (optional, removes accessibility skip links).
Save your changes and refresh your site.
Refresh your homepage, and you should see your fully designed website with the imported template kit. From here, you can edit any page with Elementor to customize content, add your own images and text, create additional pages using other templates from your kit, and set up your blog categories and start posting.
Installing an Envato template kit isn’t complicated once you understand the workflow: upload the kit, import your templates, assign them to pages, and configure your header/footer conditions. The whole process takes about 30 minutes for a basic setup.
